About the project
This year Project Compassion invites us all to work together in support of the world’s most vulnerable by putting community, love, compassion and faith into action. Together we can help shape a better future for all because when we Go Further Together, the whole world thrives.
With your support, Caritas Australia and our partners help equip communities to support themselves in spite of every challenge and to thrive in this union of love and compassion. Project Compassion 2020 focuses on working together for our global community. The women, men and children featured in the six stories shared with you during Lent, display incredible resilience and determination in improving their own lives and the lives of those in their communities.
We have put together a variety of resources to support your school, parish or community to work together in solidarity with our global community.
There are many ways to inspire others to Go Further Together.
You could challenge yourself and others to Give it up for Lent or do a fundraising challenge to support the world’s most vulnerable to grow stronger and share their strengths with their communities to lift themselves out of poverty.
Today, the number of people fleeing war, persecutions and conflict exceeds 70 million, which is more than at any other time in human history. The World Bank informs us that 10% of the world’s population lives on less that $2.75 a day and the majority of the global poor live in rural areas, are poorly educated, employed in the agricultural sector and under 18 years of age.
On behalf of everyone at Caritas, I’d like to thank you for working together to support Project Compassion and our global community.
