Readers and Lectors

Readers and Lectors bring the living Word of God to the liturgical assembly. The ministry of the Word is treated with full digity.

Ushers

We offer a friendly welcoming presence to those coming to worship, providing assistance in securing seating, helping with emergencies, taking up the collection, dissemination of the parish bulletin, and participating in the clean-up of the church after the completion of Mass.

Readers and Lectors

  • The Word of God is not merely read during the liturgy. It is proclaimed. It involves the delivery of the message with clarity, conviction, and appropriate pace
  • To make the service effective, preparations should be spiritual, scriptural, and practical
  • Spiritual preparation involves prayer over the text and reflection on its message. Scriptural preparation involves understanding of the text. Practical preparation involves mastering difficult words, learning the right pronounciations, and practicing the delivery of the text aloud and clear

Ushers

  • On the day, we develop a habit of taking time to prepare for service with quiet prayer and a reflective reading of Scripture
  • Our ministry is reflected in our appearance, by being clean and well groomed in our attire
  • Find different members of the assembly each week at each Mass to bring the gifts to the altar
  • The offerings of the assembly are collected using collections baskets
  • Assist with good order at Communion time
