POPE LEO XIV CALLS MIGRANTS “MISSIONARIES OF HOPE” IN 2025 WORLD DAY OF MIGRANTS AND REFUGEE
The 111th World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR) will be celebrated this year on the 4th and 5th of October 2025, in alignment with the Jubilee of Migrants (please note that this is a departure from the usual observance on the last Sunday of September, due to the special Jubilee programme)
In his heartfelt message for this year’s WDMR, Pope Leo XIV invites the Church and global community to see migrants and refugees not only as people in search of safety and opportunity, but also as “missionaries of hope.” His Holiness highlights their resilience, courage, and spiritual richness as a powerful gift that can revitalise communities and foster interreligious dialogue, particularly in places facing spiritual or social decline.
